How To Jumpstart A Prius

1. Make Sure Both Cars are Parked and Turned Off
Before you start to jumpstart your hybrid vehicle, park and turn off your car. This is vital for your safety.
2. Find the Fuse Box in Your Toyota Hybrid
Locate the Jump Start Terminal under the fuse box cover in the hood of your car. The fuse box cover is flat, rectangular surface made of plastic.
3. Connect the Positive Jumper Cables
Attach the positive jumper cable to the positive terminal. Then, clip the other positive jumper cable to the positive battery terminal on the assisting vehicle.
4. Connect the Negative Jumper Cables
Connect the negative cable to the negative battery terminal on the helping vehicle. Then, attach the second negative cable to a solid and unpainted piece of metal that is away from both vehicles.
5. Recharge Your Toyota Battery
After connecting the jumper cables, allow the assisting vehicle to run for about 5 minutes at engine speed. Periodically, check your vehicle by pressing the “On” button. If the “Ready” indicator lights up, it means that your Toyota battery is recharged.
